And never got a satisfactory answer as to what may cause this...for us, the user did have Norton A/V installed, so I removed both products, reinstalled the Notes client first and then the A/V and the error has not come back. I was sure to do an uninstall of Notes via Add/Remove programs, but I also removed the notes/data directories. Hope that helps for you, too.
